We are Officially an Association!

We are thrilled to share some news. On June 8th, a milestone was achieved for our community – Open EdTech has officially become an incorporated Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif (AISBL), based in Belgium. Yes, we can now proudly announce that Open EdTech is a recognised association!

This evolution reinforces our vision of creating a collaborative and transparent environment, where the possibilities for the future of educational technology are endless. Becoming an official association implies a significant commitment towards our shared mission. It bolsters our capacity to pursue our goals with more autonomy, legitimacy, and a more considerable influence in the public discourse. Moreover, it allows us to make formal alliances with other organisations and institutions and to receive funding to continue developing our projects.

Being an association brings along a heightened sense of responsibility as well. As we step into this new phase, we want to emphasise our commitment to adhering to the highest standards of integrity and transparency.

Now that we have formalised our status, we are focused on the next steps: creating a bank account, setting up an official accounting system, and formulating a detailed action plan to kickstart our upcoming projects. These might seem like mere administrative tasks, but in reality, they are the foundations upon which we will be able to build a more structured, stable, and robust Open EdTech Association.
