Open EdTech Association
Our Purpose
We are a global association, with headquarters located in Brussels, connecting members from all parts of the world.
Our members have many years experience in producing and using Open Education Technology, and we have a strong belief that technology can be implemented in ways to be a positive force for good in education.
Our mission has two parts:
Strong Voice
To be a very strong voice for Open Education Technology as a preferred platform for education. We do this through research, and curating standards into a blueprint for the platform.
Funding
To help organise funding for the development and promotion of Open Education Technology. We do this by promoting our values and designs, and working with public funding bodies such as the EU to help direct funds towards our members participating in Open EdTech development projects.

Our Principles
Decided in our first meeting in Barcelona, November 2019.
Education is a basic human right and Open EdTech can best enable equitable access to quality education for everyone on Earth.
We strongly support open standards and interoperability.
Control of education technology should be collectively shared.
We want to empower educators and learners to improve our world.
Education should drive education technology, not the reverse.
We encourage strategic alliances and networks for those around Open EdTech.
Open EdTech should be the most well-designed, competitive and sustainable technology available.
We embrace the best of open source practices.
We want to build on what already exists, including standards and tools.
Openness in EdTech should include transparency about sustainability models.
We work closely with our diverse communities to define our goals and roadmaps.
We understand and respect diversity when creating and recommending Open EdTech tools and resources.
